Die größte Schlacht - HIKG 2024 in Adventon

Adventon - der Himmel ist wolkenverhangen, die Luft kalt, die Farben gedämpft. Die Sonne scheint zwar immer wieder mal hervor und lässt die feuchten Straßen glitzern, aber der Herbst hat die Tage recht schnell seinen Zenit erreicht und meiner Meinung nach zum zweiten Oktoberwochenende hin langsam überschritten. Die Fahrt zu unserem Hotel am Tag zuvor machte das mehr als deutlich - jetzt hängen nicht nur frühmorgens, sondern auch abends im Tal dichte Nebelschaden über den Wiesen und Feldern. Es wird einem langsam mehr als klar: Die Saison 2024 neigt sich dem Ende zu.

Auch dieses Jahr "endet" meine ganz eigene, unglaublich ereignisreiche Saison mit der HIKG auf dem Gelände des Histotainmentparks Adventon in Osterburken. Ein Markt, den ich persönlich wahnsinnig liebe, nicht nur, weil es mit den einzelnen Bauprojekten und bereits vorhandenen Häuschen eine ganz besondere Erfahrung ist, sondern weil dieser Markt im Süden Deutschlands mich bisher als Einziger als Reenacterin anspricht. Ähnliches habe ich so eben nur in Glewe, Haithabu und Wolin erfahren. Hier kommen dann auch ganz viele liebe Menschen zusammen, die ich sonst nur auf den Märkten noch weiter nördlich der Donau treffe :) Eine volle Win-Win-Situation also.

Wie letztes Jahr hat mich Solvar zum Markt begleitet - wir haben es auch dieses Jahr ähnlich gehalten und haben die Anfahrt auf den Freitag nach der Arbeit gelegt, damit wir nicht volle sieben Stunden an einem Tag im Auto sitzen. Das geht schon auch von München aus, davon würde ich aber mittlerweile eher von abraten. Wir waren dann auch ganz glücklich in dem Gasthaus, das Solvar uns reserviert hatte und starteten den Tag mit einem guten Frühstück ausgeruht und hübsch eingekleidet gegen 10:00Uhr. Auf dem Parkplatz entdeckte ich dann schon sofort Charlys Auto und auch @ruriki_family stieg in ihrem unglaublichen Gewand gerade aus. Ich fing direkt zu grinsen an und war noch nicht einmal auf dem Gelände. Wider Erwarten war es ausgesprochen ruhig dort und wir bummelten über den Innenhof über das "Nadelöhr" hinter zu den Zelten, nicht ohne Charly direkt bei den Schaukeln in die Arme zu laufen. Natürlich gabs hier das erste Foto zusammen.

Adventon - the sky is cloudy, the air is cold, the colors are muted. The sun does shine out every now and then and makes the damp streets sparkle, but autumn has reached its zenith quite quickly and, in my opinion, slowly passed it towards the second weekend in October. The drive to our hotel the day before made this more than clear - now thick fog hangs over the meadows and fields in the valley, not only early in the morning but also in the evening. It's slowly becoming more than clear: the 2024 season is coming to an end.

This year too, my very own, incredibly eventful season with the HIKG "ends" on the grounds of the Histotainmentpark Adventon in Osterburken. A market that I personally love immensely, not only because it is a very special experience with the individual construction projects and existing houses, but because this market in the south of Germany is the only one that appeals to me as a reenactor so far. I have only experienced something similar in Glewe, Haithabu and Wolin. A lot of lovely people come together here that I would otherwise only meet at the markets further north of the Danube :) So it's a complete win-win situation.

Like last year, Solvar accompanied me to the market - we did it similarly this year too and scheduled the journey on the Friday after work so that we didn't sit in the car for a full seven hours in one day. This is also the case in Munich, but I would now advise against it. We were then quite happy in the inn that Solvar had reserved for us and started the day with a good breakfast, rested and nicely dressed, around 10:00 a.m. I immediately spotted Charly's car in the parking lot and @ruriki_family also got out in her incredible attire. I immediately started grinning and wasn't even on the premises yet. Contrary to expectations, it was extremely quiet there and we strolled across the inner courtyard over the "eye of the needle" behind to the tents, not without running into Charly's arms right by the swings. Of course the first photo together was here.

Schnell war uns klar, dass wir heute dringend den lang geschobenen Termin bei Andi wahrnehmen mussten. Das Nadelöhr war noch gut begehbar, allerdings war es danach aus mit den trockenen Füßen. Solvars Schuhe gaben jetzt wirklich vollständig auf, es war damit jetzt wirklich ihr letzter Markt. Lange hatten die Schuhe durchgehalten, jetzt lief aber der Schlamm vorne bei der Schuhspitze hinein. Auch meine Schuhe, obwohl nach all den Jahren immer noch einwandfrei, versanken und ich musste aufpassen, dass mir die Suppe nicht oben in die Aussparung hineinfloß. Da wunderte es nicht, dass auch die härtesten Reenactor heute auf Gummistiefel umstiegen. So hatten sowohl Solvar als auch ich mehr als nur gute Gründe, die bereits schon im Frühjahr gewünschten Schuhe endlich auch in Auftrag zu geben. Solvar wurde dazu von Andi vollständig aufgemessen und wir konnten uns die Modelle live vor Ort ansehen. Da ich bereits Schuhe von Andi habe, sprachen wir bei mir nur die Details durch und vereinbarten eine Abholung zum Frühjahrsmarkt in Haithabu. Ich kann euch gar nicht sagen, wie sehr ich mich auf diesen Markt freue! Das wird allein deswegen schon eine grandiose Saisoneröffnung :)

Da Solvar zum Aufmessen seine nadelgebundenen Socken mehrmals aus- und anziehen musste, die um die Ferse herum leider etwas eng geraten sind, erstanden wir gegenüber am Stand auch neue grau/blaue Socken, die ihm jetzt deutlich besser passen. Jetzt ist schon einmal wieder ein guter Grundstock gelegt, um ihn wieder vollständig ins Reenactment zu ziehen ;) Eine kleiner Ansporn an mich, eventuell über die Winterpause ein paar Haithabu-Gewandungsstücke zu nähen. Beide Schuhpaare orientieren sich nämlich nach Fundlage Haithabu. Auch ich möchte hierzu demnächst eine einfachere Darstellung zusammenstellen, die auch konkret zum Beleben der Häuser tauglich wäre.

Sofern man die schlammigen Wege ignorierte, war es wie immer ein ganz fantastischer Markt mit vielen tollen Händlern und sehr vielen schönen Waren. Da ich erst kürzlich für meine neue Ausbildungsstelle ein kleines Auto anzahlen musste, war ich glücklich, dass mir Solvar neben dem Eintritt einen Met und nochmal 1,5m Meter Lederband sponsorte. Ich möchte zudem tatsächlich jetzt meinen bereits erworbenen Bestand von Stoffen, Seiden, Bändern und angefangenen Projekten über den Winter sortieren und nutzen (ich weine gerade nur ein wenig, während ich das schreibe :´D).

It quickly became clear to us that we urgently had to make the long-delayed appointment with Andi today. The bottleneck was still easy to walk on, but after that my feet were dry. Solvar's shoes really gave up completely, making it really their last market. The shoes had held out for a long time, but now the mud was running into the front of the toe. My shoes, although still in perfect condition after all these years, also sank and I had to be careful not to let the soup flow into the recess at the top. So it was no surprise that even the toughest reenactors switched to rubber boots today. So both Solvar and I had more than just good reasons to finally order the shoes we wanted back in the spring. Solvar was completely measured by Andi and we were able to look at the models live on site. Since I already have shoes from Andi, we just talked through the details and arranged to pick them up at the spring market in Haithabu. I can't tell you how excited I am for this market! This will be a great opening to the season for that reason alone :)

Since Solvar had to take off and put on his needle-tied socks several times to measure them, which were unfortunately a bit tight around the heel, we also bought new gray/blue socks at the stand opposite, which now fit him much better. Now a good foundation has been laid to pull it fully into the reenactment again ;) A little incentive for me to perhaps sew a few Haithabu garments over the winter break. Both pairs of shoes are based on the Haithabu find location. I would also like to put together a simpler representation of this soon, which would also be suitable for enlivening the houses.

As long as you ignored the muddy paths, it was, as always, a fantastic market with lots of great traders and lots of beautiful goods. Since I recently had to pay a deposit for a small car for my new training position, I was happy that Solvar sponsored me a mead and another 1.5m meter of leather strap in addition to the entrance fee. I would also like to actually sort and use my already purchased inventory of fabrics, silks, ribbons and projects I have started over the winter (I'm just crying a little as I write this :'D).

Wir nutzten also die Zeit, die ich sonst zum Shoppen benötige ;), für das Beobachten der Übung auf dem zweiten Platz hinter der Lagerwiese. Hier habe ich euch sogar das 1. Mal seit Ewigkeiten wieder live mitgenommen. Falls ihr es verpasst habt - das Reel dazu habe ich für euch hochgeladen. Wir sahen eine ganze Weile lang zu, ich unterhielt mich mit David über die Schwierigkeiten aktuell auf Instagram und war dann auch noch Landeplatz für einen kleinen Schmetterling. 

So we used the time that I normally need for shopping ;) to watch the exercise in the second place behind the camp area. Here I even took you live with me for the first time in ages. In case you missed it - I uploaded the reel for you. We watched for a while, I chatted with David about the current difficulties on Instagram and then was also a landing spot for a little butterfly.

Wir liefen weiter nach hinten zu den Häusern, die weiterhin wortwörtlich im Dornröschenschlaf liegen. Für mich als Wikingerfrau ist dieser Teil von Adventon einer der am schönsten angelegten Höfe - aus meiner Zeit, so schön gearbeitet wie die Häuser in Haithabu mit einer daran orientierten Bauweise. Das erste Mal liefen Solvar und ich auch ein Stück weiter nach hinten und sahen uns den Rest der mittlerweile doch sehr verwilderten Pazelle an. 

Rechts liegt das recht lange Hauptgebäude, das trotz der wohl jahrelangen Vernachlässigung insgesamt noch einen recht guten Eindruck macht. Es hat zwei Räume, einen kleineren vorne am Eingang und einen größeren Versammlungsraum mit erhöhter Feuerstelle und Lagerraum im hinteren Bereich. Links im Eck, etwas tiefer auf dem Gelände, liegt eine zweite Wikingerhütte mit tollem Dekor an der Giebelseite, die mit den Jahren leider nach und nach auseinanderbricht. Trotzdem sieht man den Holzbalken die liebevolle, stundenlange Schnitzarbeit noch an. Das begrünte Dach rutscht mittlerweile auch ab und legt die untere Konstruktion frei. Hinter den Häusern hängt ein Gartentor aus den Angeln von einem mal liebevoll errichteten Zaun, gesäumt von zwei Kopfweiden, die miteinander in der Krone verschlungen einen Durchgang bilden. 

Ich hatte diesen Teil der Pazelle vorher nie so wahrgenommen, auch wenn ich hier schon Videos mit der lieben @ladysarasamira gedreht habe. Dieses Mal wagte ich mich aber weiter nach hinten und war direkt begeistert wie betroffen. Links hinter dem Wikingerhaus entdeckte ich einen recht gut erhaltenen Ofen nach Fund, nachhaltig mit einer kleinen Überdachung ausgestattet. Erst nicht direkt erkennbar, aber dann sehr beeindruckend war ein Ring aus Weiden, die hier bewusst gepflanzt wurden. Dadurch, dass hier lange niemand mehr war, ist es gut verwildert und kam deswegen nicht sofort zum Vorschein. Ich betrat den Ring und sah sofort an alten Opfergaben den Altar der Wikingergruppe. Was hier wohl für Feste gefeiert worden waren, konnte man nur noch erahnen. Ich fand ein paar Scherben, Schädel und Überreste weiterer Gaben etwas außerhalb der Mitte des Kreises. Wir fühlten uns wirklich wie auf einer historischen Fundstätte, die Geschichten schon lange verblassend und doch immer noch hier. Ich kann es auf den Bildern gar nicht wirklich widergeben, fürchte ich. Solvar hat das Ganze gefilmt und wir hoffen wenigstens so, die ganze Arbeit und Liebe für diesen Ort für die Nachwelt festhalten zu können. 

Warum festhalten? Der Grund ist leider ein sehr trauriger: Das Gelände von Adventon soll nach unserer Info deutlich reduziert werden und in der Fläche fast halbiert werden. Der Auslöser ist ein Besitzerwechsel des Geländes und schlicht und ergreifend die wenigen Pächter, sowie die hohen Kosten für den Erhalt des gesamten Geländes. Die neue Grenze wird sich bis zum Wikingerschiff vorverlegen und alle Gebäude hinterhalb dieser Linie müssen umverlegt oder abgerissen werden. So auch die beiden Wikingerhäuser auf dieser Pazelle, ein Projekt einer ehemals wohl sehr großen Gruppe, die nur noch aus drei Personen besteht, die diese umfangreiche Aufgabe des Geländewechsels einfach nicht alleine stemmen kann. Somit fallen die Häuser wohl dem Abriss zum Opfer. Ich bedauere das sehr, da ich allein als Gast dieses Fleckchen Erde besonders missen werde. Hier geht wirklich eine richtige Ära zu Ende.

We walked further back to the houses that are still literally asleep. For me as a Viking woman, this part of Adventon is one of the most beautifully landscaped farms - from my time, as beautifully crafted as the houses in Haithabu with a construction style based on it. The first time, Solvar and I walked a little further back and looked at the rest of the parcel, which had now become very overgrown. 

To the right is the rather long main building, which still makes a pretty good impression overall despite what has probably been years of neglect. It has two rooms, a smaller one at the front at the entrance and a larger gathering room with a raised fireplace and storage space at the rear. In the left corner, a little deeper on the site, there is a second Viking hut with great decor on the gable side, which unfortunately gradually falls apart over the years. Nevertheless, you can still see the loving, hours-long carving work on the wooden beams. The green roof is now also slipping and exposing the lower structure. Behind the houses, a garden gate hangs on its hinges from a lovingly erected fence, lined with two pollarded willows, which, intertwined in the crown, form a passage. 

I had never noticed this part of the pazelle like that before, even though I have already filmed videos here with the lovely @ladysarasamira. This time I ventured further back and was immediately thrilled and affected. To the left behind the Viking house I discovered a fairly well-preserved oven after it was found, sustainably equipped with a small roof. Not immediately recognizable at first, but then very impressive, was a ring of willow trees that were deliberately planted here. Because no one has been here for a long time, it has become quite overgrown and therefore did not appear immediately. I entered the ring and immediately saw old offerings on the altar of the Viking group. One could only imagine what kind of festivals had been celebrated here. I found a few shards, skulls, and remains of other offerings just outside the center of the circle. We really felt like we were on a historical site, the stories long fading but still here. I can't really show it in the pictures, I'm afraid. Solvar filmed the whole thing and at least we hope to be able to capture all the work and love for this place for posterity. 

Why hold on? Unfortunately, the reason is a very sad one: According to our information, the Adventon area is to be significantly reduced and the area is almost halved. The trigger is a change of ownership of the site and simply the few tenants, as well as the high costs of maintaining the entire site. The new border will extend to the Viking ship and all buildings behind this line will have to be relocated or demolished. This also applies to the two Viking houses on this parcel, a project of a once very large group that now only consists of three people who simply cannot handle this extensive task of changing the terrain on their own. The houses will therefore probably fall victim to demolition. I regret this very much, as I will particularly miss this part of the world as a guest. A real era is really coming to an end here.

Glücklicher waren wir dann zu hören, dass neben dem Hexenhaus auch das frisch errichtete rot-weiße Wikingerhaus auf dem Nachbargelände natürlich erhalten bleiben. Dafür wurde weiter vorne im Gelände, nahe der späteren Grenze, bereits ein Fundament aus Felsen errichtet und das Haus soll die Tage schon mit einem Kran versetzt werden. Vermutlich ist das schon passiert, wenn der Blogeintrag hier online geht. Die ganzen Informationen über die Umbaumaßnahmen haben wir von Einer der Mitglieder dieser Gruppe, die sich wirklich ganz toll engagieren und aus ihrem Grundstück etwas wunderbares gezaubert haben. Dort fällt sofort der neue Auslauf für die Katzen auf, der sich in der hinteren Ecke des Grundstücks befindet. Solvar und ich haben uns hier auch nochmals den Holzweg genauer angesehen, den wir evt. nachbauen möchten. Ich fotografierte die Katzen, las die süß gestalteten Schilder und wir schlenderten dann eine weitere Runde über den Markt.

We were happier to hear that, in addition to the witch's house, the newly built red and white Viking house on the neighboring site would of course be preserved. For this purpose, a foundation made of rocks has already been built further up the site, near the future border, and the house will be moved with a crane in the next few days. This has probably already happened when the blog entry goes online here. We got all the information about the renovation work from one of the members of this group, who are really committed and have conjured up something wonderful from their property. This weekend Solvar and I took another closer look at the wooden path, which we might also want to recreate. I took photos of the cats, read the cute signs and we then strolled around the market again.

Dort traf ich dann auch wieder ein paar neue Gesichter, die mir auf Instagram folgen und Freunden, mit denen ich bisher nur über das Internet Kontakt hatte. Ich hatte wirklich sehr schöne Gespräche mit euch und freue mich immer, wenn ihr mich ansprecht auf den Märkten. Dieses Mal habe ich auch mal von meiner Seite aus nach Fotos gefragt, denn darüber ärgere ich mich später immer, wenn ich es nicht tue. 

There I met a few new faces who follow me on Instagram and friends with whom I had previously only had contact via the Internet. I had really nice conversations with you and I'm always happy when you talk to me at the markets. This time I also asked for photos from my side, because I'm always annoyed later if I don't do it.

Direkt die Chance ergriffen hat dann die liebe @_mara_morana_ mit der ich eigentlich auch nur ein kurzes Bildchen machen wollte und sprach direkt eine weitere Freundin und @sir_meon.fotografie (David) an. Die Freundin war noch anderweitig verplant, so zogen wir "nur" zu viert los wieder hinter zu den Häusern und legten ein kurzes Fotoshooting ein. Danke an David für diese spontane Gelegenheit - wenn ihr einen tollen Fotografen für euer Hobby sucht, dann fragt ihn an. Ich kann ihn wirklich sehr empfehlen, weil es wieder richtig witzig war und beim Shooting immer Spaß macht. Das hier war ein TfP, trotzdem: Werbung durch Nennung :)

Dear @_mara_morana_, with whom I actually just wanted to take a quick picture, immediately took the chance and directly spoke to another friend and @sir_meon.fotografie (David). The friend had other plans, so the four of us went back to the houses and did a quick photo shoot. Thanks to David for this spontaneous opportunity - if you are looking for a great photographer for your hobby, then ask him. I can really recommend him because it was really funny and it's always fun to shoot. This was a TfP, but still: advertising by mentioning :)

Um kurz vor 15:00Uhr ging es dann Richtung Kampfplatz, der aufgrund des Wetters geschont wurde. Es ist wie immer sehr beeindruckend gewesen, den Kämpfern zuzusehen. Die erste Gruppe war bereits auf dem Platz, dann zogen die Jomswikinger ein. Und plötzlich war der Platz voll. Man wusste nicht mehr, wo man hinsehen sollte, so viele Kampfszenen gab es zu sehen. Auch hier startete ich wieder ein Live-Video über die ersten drei der insgesamt fünf Runden, das ihr euch gerne auch noch nachträglich ansehen könnt. Solvar kam derweil mit einer Zimmerin auf der Walz ins Gespräch, die auf dem Gelände unterstützen will. Wir nutzten dann anschließend die Lücke auf dem Markt, um uns nochmal einen Becher Met, sowie etwas zu Essen zu holen und ließen dann langsam für uns den Besuch ausklingen. Offiziell endete der Markt um 18:00Uhr, ungefähr um diese Zeit machten wir auch langsam los Richtung München, da ich am Wochenende auch wieder arbeiten muss. 

Shortly before 3:00 p.m. we headed towards the battlefield, which was spared due to the weather. As always, it was very impressive to watch the fighters. The first group was already on the pitch, then the Jomsvikings moved in. And suddenly the place was full. You didn't know where to look anymore, there were so many fight scenes. Here, too, I started a live video about the first three of the five rounds, which you are welcome to watch later. Meanwhile, Solvar started talking to a carpenter on the Walz who wanted to provide support on the site. We then used the gap in the market to get another cup of mead and something to eat and then slowly let the visit come to an end. The market officially ended at 6:00 p.m., around this time we slowly set off towards Munich, as I have to work again at the weekend.

Irgendwie seltsam, dass damit meine Saison 2024 offiziell zu Ende geht. Eine Saison, in der ich so viel erlebt habe, wie nie zuvor in einem Jahr und das in wohl der stressigsten Zeit meiner beruflichen Karriere. Das sieht man aktuell am ehesten am Blog und noch fehlender Eintäge :) Ich gelobe, hier nächstes Jahr deutlich schneller nachzuliefern. Vielleicht werde ich im Winter noch ein paar weihnachtliche Aktionen mitmachen, die mir Charly vorgeschlagen hat und dem werde ich wohl gerne nachkommen. Aber bis auf Weiteres ist jetzt erstmal Ende...

Kind of strange that this officially marks the end of my 2024 season. A season in which I experienced more than ever before in a year and during probably the most stressful time of my professional career. This is best seen at the moment by looking at the blog and the missing entries :) I promise to deliver much more quickly next year. Maybe in the winter I'll take part in a few more Christmas activities that Charly suggested to me and I'll probably be happy to do that. But for now it's over...
